In recent years the Society has planned, booked and operated a series of successful Overseas Railtours annually for groups of interested members. These Railtours provide the opportunity for members to visit overseas countries as part of an RES Railtour Group to enjoy the scenic and other attractions that different countries offer - and generally to travel by train as much as possible in doing so. All the planning, organization and running of these Railtours is undertaken on a voluntary basis by experienced members who have "done it all before". The Society contracts directly with overseas service providers. All this generally ensures that we visit destinations of real interest to our Railtourists, can offer "Optional Activities" to those who prefer to be organized, provide a balance between travelling and free days and maximizes "value for money" for everybody travelling!
